B(l)ack to basics

My iPhone weather app lied. It was so sunny and we witnessed 3 wedding couples taking their pre-wedding shots at the Botanic Gardens! One couple was even wearing a muffler and scarves in the hot sun which I think they were pretending to be shooting these in Korea... I kid you not. Cue heatstroke...

Many a time I've been 'forced' to wear the simple black shirt for really formal occasions (like working as an usher). Don't get me wrong, although I love colours, and basics in black or white colours really do match well with everything, the problem is that the outfit tends to get a little boring and safe in these monotone shades.

The solution? Jazz it up with coloured jewellery! Like this elegant cutout necklace that has floral motifs and a complex design that would make people stare at it to make sense of it (okay, or not, but the job is done anyway). Wear it below collared tops like I did or with tube tops and dresses.

Autumn Bunnies: The Lace Parade

Time flies and it's already June! Which means that these photos are overdued for more than two weeks... Oops. I really love this collection from Autumn Bunnies that features two of my favourite materials: Lace and chiffon! Those two combined make any tomboy a girly girl.

Anyway, June is also the month where kids run amok without school (no more quiet weekday mornings!) and my friends come back from UK and Australia! Yayyyy. But it also means a month nearer to school starting in September and me moving away from everyone I know and love. Though it is exciting at the same time *sighs*.

The Handlebar: Life is a Pattern & Giveaway #1

Shot these after our lunch at East Coast Park, 'twas semi-perfect weather and no mosquitoes! Really love exploring places like these but the weather in Singapore is really too much sometimes.

 

Life is a roller-coaster ride, there are ups and downs like there are joyous and tearful occasions. But mostly life is boring and monotonous -- Haven't you sometimes wake up in the morning and think again, 'I need to catch the 8.17AM bus" or "Thank God it's Friday!" after slogging through the whole week?

But no matter what patterns in life that you follow, whether is it a diet plan or an exercise regime, I'm sure girls will agree that our favourite patterns would be the floral brights or cute hand-drawn animals that adorn our clothing. I would say, the more the merrier! And out of all the blogshops that I've seen (and believe me, I online shop everyday), The Handlebar has the cutest printed apparel!

Autumn Bunnies: Let the light in

So this was what I did on Tuesday afternoon. Hanging around in the car park and in the sun pretending to be a glamorous woman... Because in real life I'm clumsy (says mr penguin) and loud, unlike the usual embodiment of the fairer sex. Oh well.

These outfits by Autumn Bunnies really make one feel super feminine and girly though! With lace, cut-outs and cute patterns, these items are perfect for spring because they really make you feel like frolicking in the grass and having a picnic, despite the 35 degree (celcius) weather. My favourite outfit is the lace top paired with a skirt with a lace trimming. If you look closely the top has a metal-tip collar -- which is in trend now as well.
